Amber Johnson, owner and founder of Facial Lounge, has harbored a passion for skincare and a natural approach to healing nearly her entire life. 30 years ago, Amber entered the skincare industry, studying under the renowned Dr. Fulton, developer of the topical uses of Benzoyl Peroxide and Retin-A.

She quickly discovered that most skincare products utilize inhumane practices including animal-testing and/or contain toxic ingredients linked to many different diseases. Then and there, Amber made it her life’s mission to redefine the skincare industry. She has harnessed the power of science and Mother Nature to create products that are highly effective and made with ingredients found in nature.

All-Natural

All Facial Lounge products undergo a rigorous series of tests to ensure everything under our label is safe, stable, and effective. Our high-performance ingredients utilize clinical testing on humans to determine effectiveness. Some companies claim to offer a natural product, but the term is unregulated, which means so long as a product contains a single natural ingredient, it can be labeled “natural” even if it contains other harmful or unnatural ingredients. There are many studies on how effective plant-based ingredients can be when used properly and Facial Lounge proudly uses all natural ingredients in their skincare line.

Cruelty-Free

It is important to note that just because something is “vegan” that does not necessarily mean it is “cruelty-free”. Facial Lounge commits that all their products are both vegan and cruelty-free. It is a common but relatively unknown practice for companies to include animal-based ingredients in their products, meaning the ingredient was extracted from an animal part, including tissue or joints. Furthermore, a product can be free of animal byproducts but can still be tested on animals. Animal testing is a torturous, unethical practice that does not need to exist. The best way to know if something is both vegan and cruelty-free is to check the label and look for “cruelty-free” or look for the the Leaping Bunny Logo.

• Ethanolamine Compounds (MEA, DEA, TEA, Paraffins): linked to cancer, organ system toxicity, and bioaccumulation
• MIT, CMIT: associated with inhalation toxicity, allergies and possible neurotoxicity, Toluene Organ system toxicity, development and reproduction toxicity, irritation
• Triclosan: linked to endocrine disruption, triclosan-resistant bacteria, bioaccumulation
• Parabens: a hormone and reproductive disruptor, can increase the risk of cancer, and birth defects
• Phthalates: an endocrine disruptor, linked to cancers, developmental and reproductive toxicity
• Sodium Lauryl Sulfate: strips the skin of its natural barrier, causing irritation and allergic reactions
• Propylene Glycol: associated with allergies and immunotoxicity
• Formaldehyde & Formaldehyde-Releasing Preservatives: linked to cancer, skin irritation
• Benzophenones: associated with various cancers, endocrine disruptor, developmental and reproductive toxicity, organ system toxicity, irritation, ecotoxicity
